From composing music to making movies, double Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, says in current scenario there is a complete change in his working facade.
“There is a whole shift in my thinking. For the past four years, I have been into the filmmaking process, designing my movies. I have been doing the things I like but have never done before in my life. I am looking for casting so these are very fascinating. A complete shift from the way I work,” Rahman said duting a press conference.
A.R Rahman, who has composed award-winning songs, has done a script and now also producing a film.
This movie is written and produced by me while direction is by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy.
Reportedly, the film is about a singer and tells a story about art and self-discovery.
The film which is yet to be titled will release in Hindi and Tamil languages and go on floors by the end of 2015.
Music plays an integral part of the film and the tracks have all been composed by A R Rahman himself.
The “Mozart of Madras”, who has hit the right notes with each of his compositions also spoke about the documentary ‘Jai Ho’ to be telecast on Discovery channel.
It is a 90 minutes documentary, made on Rahman’s musical journey touching the periphery of a personal life of double Oscar-winning composer.
“There are lots of offers regarding a documentary on me. Though I felt there is no need to make a film on me. After the Oscars I think people could get some kind of inspiration from the journey of my life. Umesh Aggarwal contacted me who is an award winning film maker who says it is only for the consulate. But I didn’t know all this would happen. People who live abroad deserve to know more about Indian personalities,” he stated at the press conference.
The documentary has several such moments of honesty, doubts, admissions, and larger-than-life scenarios, thoughts were shared from Subash Ghai, Mani Ratnam, Gulzar, Shekhar Kapoor to Danny Boyle and Andrew Llyod Webber, all have spoken about Rahman and his music.
Rahman is a name to reckon in the International as well as in India who has also made India proud by winning two Oscars for his music in Slumdog Millionaire in 2009 — Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song, which he shares with lyricist Gulzar.
