Bollywood celebrities like Madhur Bhandarkar, Dia Mirza, Jaaved Jaaferi pays tribute to deceased physicist Stephen Hawking.
World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76. He died peacefully at his home in Cambridge in the early hours of Wednesday, his family said. The Briton was known for his work with black holes and relativity, and wrote several popular science books including A Brief History of Time.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to his social media account and wrote, “#StephenHawking has been one of the greatest mind of modern times who simplified complex theories and lived a truly remarkable life inspiring many. His demise is a great loss for humanity. RIP”
Dia Mirza also expressed her sadness but thanked the physicist for his kindness and brave heart on social media. She wrote, “RIP Stephen Hawking. Thank you for your brave heart, your curiosity, your humour, your genius”
Veteran Actor Jaaved Jaaferi also paid a tribute to the physicist. He wrote, “A brief history of your time in this universe will be cherished forever. Farewell to the beautiful mind who searched for the theory of everything against all odds. #RIP #StephenHawking”
At the age of 22 Prof Hawking was given only a few years to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease. The illness left him in a wheelchair and largely unable to speak except through a voice synthesiser.
Stephen Hawking’s life and work has been extensively covered in Television and films – recently by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything, which charted his rise to fame and relationship with his first wife, Jane.
