“Kick” leading lady Jacqueline Fernandez credits her mentor and friend Salman Khan for her success and roping the role in Brothers.
Jacqueline Fernandez will be seen portraying a young mother’s role in Brothers starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jackie Shroff and Shefali Shah.
Actresses in their prime are usually apprehensive about playing mothers on screen, so was Jacqueline Fernandez, when she was approached to play a young mom in Brothers.
“Both the Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra came to me with the story of Brothers. I met them at the office and he told me what this movie is about and that they wanted me to play Jenny Fernandes. I was like, ‘Why would they want me in the film?’ I was a little apprehensive about taking on an intense role like this. You are playing a mother and there are too many stereotypes attached to that. So I was a little sceptical” says Jacqueline.
But it took special convincing and advice from Salman Khan, that promote Jacqueline to take on this challenging role.
“I discussed it with Salman and he convinced me to say yes. He told me it would benefit me and that here was a chance for me to prove myself through performance and I should not worry about the glamour and styling taking it away. I thought if I could pull this off, it would be fantastic for me and my credentials as an actor. I pretty much owe it to Karan and Salman for believing that I could carry off the role” says Jacqueline.
Brothers releases on 14th August.
