“There are similarities, but it’s not very similar,” says Deepika Padukone about her role as Tara in upcoming movie Tamasha.
Tamasha is an upcoming Indian romantic drama film directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
Tamasha tells the story of character “Ved” (played by Ranbir Kapoor) who loses his self by living according to the social conventions expected of him, and Tara (Deepika Padukone) who helped him to discover himself.
The character played by Deepika Padukone (as Tara Maheshwari) is a quick, eloquent and emotionally agile girl with a gentle gait.
“This is the part that I had to play; it is not something that has come to me naturally. I had to act within the film. It is not a character I identify with completely,” says Deepika.
Tara and Ved meet on the Island of Corsica, they both explore the island and, along the way, they form a troupe to stage dramatic plays and fall passionately in love.
Tara and Ved’s love story and struggle takes us through Corsica, Shimla, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Tokyo and eventually concluding here in Mumbai.
It is slated for 27 November 2015 release.
