Two goofballs, a hinterland rivalry and a kidnapping, that’s what “Guddu Rangeela” is all about. Seems to be a highly cliched plot, but there’s a flavor of satire and social commentary too in the film. The films comes from Subhash Kapoor, who in the past has helmed films like “Phas Gaye Re Obama” and “Jolly LLB”. Both his films had a rusty feel and look and his third outing too has a feel that is close to the land. It revolves around Guddu (Amit Sadh) and Rangeela (Arshad Warsi), both of them play small time crooks. But eventually their gamble comes back and bites the butt when the two have to pay ten lakhs to someone. This soon, becomes a life and death situation. This is when they decide to kidnap Baby (Aditi Rao Hydari). But this doesn’t end here, Baby’s brother, Pehelwaan (Ronit Roy) sets out for the search of his sister and rest is for you to find out. If a desi flavoured drama with a pinch of action and comedy is what you’re looking for, “Guddu Rangeela” is just the right film for you.
