Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar says that it feels good that her last release, Gully Boy starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, found commercial and critical success.
Zoya Akhtar was interacting with media on the sidelines of Critics Choice Film Awards 2019.
Gully Boy starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles and the movie chronicled the life of slum-dweller rapper.
Talking about her last release Gully Boy making remarkable strides at the box-office and critical quarters, Zoya said, “It is lucky, and it feels good, when film does well at the box-office and you have certain amount of critical appreciation and the point is, you know, you’ve to do something you believe and you’ve to do it as honestly and truthfully as you can and whatever happen, happens. You can’t look at the end result; you’ve just to enjoy the process”
Zoya Akhtar was shared a sneak-peek into forthcoming ventures from her home production with Reema Kagti.
When asked about her next venture, Zoya said, “We’re working on Made In Heaven Season 2, we’re working on another show, we’re working on two features with other directors, and we’re working on Reema Kagti and my next film. So it is action packed writing right now”
Talking about the first of its kind award show by critics, Zoya said, “I am expecting an extremely fair judgment, since it is a pan India critics choice award and I expecting and hoping for the bar to be raised”
“Because it is pan India collective, I think it will be different. I think it is also people, who actually watch the film, all they do is watch films, so it is cinephiles, it is proper cinephiles, who reads about cinema, watch cinema and I am hoping it is farer, and I am also hoping that standard goes higher”
