“The Scam” is based on a book authored by Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu. In the first season of this investigative drama, the 10-part series reportedly unfolds one of the biggest financial scams in the Indian stock market.

The filmmaker Hansal Mehta also confirmed the same. He wrote, “Am so grateful that I’m getting to tell this thrilling story. I’ve always been mistakenly addressed as Harshad Mehta… Now I get to tell you his story. Our stories like our names are very different! Thank you @nairsameer @suchetadalal @Moneylifers for this ‘Scam’!”
Apart from the web-series, Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is currently promoting his latest outing Omerta, with Rajkummar Rao.

Omerta is a biographical crime drama film based on Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, British terrorist of Pakistani descent. The film explores the 1994 kidnappings of Westerners in India for which Omar was arrested and served time in prison and the plotting of murder of Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002.
Omerta is scheduled to release on 20 April, 2018.
