Legendary Bollywood Mega Star Amitabh Bachchan in a recent book launch of Amjad khan’s son said, “I am not worthy enough to write a book on and if someone wants to write a book about me, I’d discourage him as he won’t find material to write a book”.

These words seems like there has never been a time when someone took an initiative to write a book on the life of Bollywood Super Star Amitabh Bachchan.

But, is that true?

In year 2005, a book was written on the life of Amitabh Bachchan by then famous writer Saumya Bandopadhyay in Bengali. It was a publication of Penguin India, owned by Aveek Sarkar  of Ananda Bazar Pratika. Mr Bachchan and Aveek Sarkar share a good bond. Penguin India assigned the job to Saumya Bandopadhyay, who spent almost two years to write this most readable biography of Amitabh Bachchan in Bengali language of 606 pages.  As Amitabh’s wife Jaya Bachchan comes from a Bengali family, he had a big name over there. Later on, this book was even translated in Hindi by Vani Prakashan. When it was being talked about translating the book in English, it was reported, Amitabh Bachchan himself excused to grant permission for publishing the book in English. The sources disclosed that Big B desires to permit only a world renowned writer to write his biography so he can get Name, Fame and Money.

What Big B said during Shadaab’s book launch comes out to be misrepresentation of facts.
