Filmmaker Karan Johar attended Raymond Crossword Books Awards where he was honored with best author award on Thursday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Karan Johar said that he can’t wait for the release of Padmaavat.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ recently passed by CBFC board for its release after suggesting few changes to filmmaker and The Supreme Court on Thursday set aside the notification passed by the states of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial Padmaavat, reacting to release of ‘Padmaavat’, Karan said, “I am really happy that Padmaavat is finally releasing. As filmmaker and audience, I am really happy and excited to watch Padmaavat. I can’t wait for the 25th January when the film releases nationwide”.
Filmmaker Karan Johar on Thursday dismissed rumours that he had roped in Miss World Manushi Chillar as a second heroine for his film “Student Of The Year 2”.
“There is no truth to the news yet. We are very proud of Manushi’s achievements. I was hosting the show the year she won, so I have met her before and I did see potential in her. I look forward to meeting her… I haven’t met her yet after she won the crown for India. But there has been nothing discussed yet” he told media at Raymond Crossword Book Awards in Partnership with Wizcraft.
After receiving awards for best producer, director and now author, Karan, asked if his fans can expect the best actor award for ‘Welcome to New York’, said: “That is a comedy film, so maybe best actor in a comic role could be in the question. Anyways even if I get a nomination I’ll be happy with that. That is part of my extracurricular activities, so whatever I will get, I will be happy with that.”
The filmmaker was honored with the best author award in the category of Popular Choice award for biographies for his book “An Unsuitable Boy”, which reveals everything right from his movie-making voyage to emotional revelations about his fallout with close friends in the industry, sharing the feeling after getting an honour, Karan said, “I am very thankful for readers who voted for me and bought my book because it was a popular award. This is the first award for my book and I am feeling really excited for it and I want to thank Penguin Publishers and Shobha De who convinced me write this book. This award really means a lot to me because normally when you do things apart from your regular life and profession and in that if you get appreciation then excitement level reaches to another level.”
When asked Karan whether he will write another book, he said, “I will write part 2 of this book after 30 years, till that time, hopefully I will able to gather lots of experiences to pen down my journey”
When asked Karan whether he thought that his autobiography will be so popular among readers, he said, “I wrote this book with lot of heart and honesty. I never thought it would get so popular. Today also, when I people meet me airports and restaurant they give positive feedback to my book. It feels to good to know that so many people are interested in my life”
Karan Johar’s upcoming productions include “Drive” and “Raazi” for 2018 release and “Kesari” and “Brahmastra” for 2019.
