“Mangeshkar family is my inspiration”- Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s passion for music is known to all likewise his fondness for the greatest singer of India, Lata Mangeshkar. Bhansali, 52, who is conferred with Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar Award, said that he considers the Mangeshkar family is a huge inspiration in his life.

“My mother is much happier today as I am receiving this award. She knows how much the Mangeshkar family inspires me.  Until today, I have not spent a single day without listening Latadidi, Ashaji or Ushaji and Hridaynath Mangeshkar’s composition.” He said at the award ceremony.

“I have learnt about the timing, expressions and dynamics from Mangeshkar’s songs. Moreover, they made me realize to work in that way so it makes imprints in everybody’s heart forever.” The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ helmer added.

The Mangeshkars helmed by the mighty Lata Mangeshkar honour the finest artists of the land to commemorate Lataji’s father Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar’s death anniversary on April 24 every year.

Along with the director, actor Ranveer Singh and yesteryear actor Jeetendra were also honored.  Ranveer who is currently in Paris to shoot for his film Befikre with co-star Vaani Kapoor and the Yash Raj Films’ crew, addressed the gathering through a video message.

“I wish I was there today. Actually, it is quite difficult for me to find the word to describe what it means to my expression in arts and performance to be recognized by one of the greatest artists of all time. Today, I feel the journey of Bajirao Mastani has been fulfilled. I promise to work harder and make you more proud in the future,” said Ranveer.
