Actress Bidita Bag attended trailer launch of her upcoming film Rabbi on Monday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Bidita stated that film industry values actor more than stars.

When asked her about actor’s acceptance in film industry, she said, “I feel industry is very fair. Industry judge people on their talent. If an actor does not able to give his performance, then industry never recognize him or her, so I feel this industry values actors more than stars”

“If you see any big stars they have established themselves with their acting and it is applicable to everyone”

Talking about her character in Rabbi, Bidita said, “I am playing completely different character from Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in this film. I am playing a Muslim girl. She belongs to Jammu. She comes from very conservative family but she is very matured and has liberal thought process. She teaches Quran to children. She is girl friend of Rabbi (Protagonist) and her cousin as well. She knows that in near future she might do wedding with Rabbi. They are good friend and support system of each other.”

When asked if the project was shot before her recent success, the actress said, “I did ‘Rabbi’ before ‘Babumoshai…’. There are a number of social films that I have worked in before and after ‘Babumoshai…’ Now that one film has turned out to be a hit, I hope to work in more films as soon as possible.”

Talking about the film, Rahat Kazmi said, “Rabbi is satirical narration that tugs at your heartstrings, dealing with the clash of ideologies of the liberal, educated, modern Muslims and their conservative counterparts. The film focuses on love towards God instead of fear”.

Rabbi set in Kashmir is the story of the rise and fall of young musician essayed by debutant Furqan Merchant and Bidita Bag. It touches a chord with Rahat’s own upbringing in a family of Sufis and his own experiences and the stand he chooses to take in life.”

“Rabbi” also stars Raghubir Yadav, Dolly Ahluwalia, Brijendra Kala and Virendra Saxena. Directed and produced by Rahat Kazmi, the film is set to release on September 15.
