Radhika Apte, who will be seen next in the film ‘Phobia’, reveals her character Mehak, “Mehak is a painter an independent, free-spirited girl staying in Mumbai. She is single and enjoys her single status. One night on a routine evening, something happens to her and that change her life turning upside down. Her pretty colorful life became nightmare almost. She basically developed agoraphobia.” she said at the trailer launch of the film.
Known for delivering powerful performances, the ‘Badlapur’ actress continues to speak about his role, “Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder. It is an irrational fear of public spaces. She could not step out of the house. I do not think anyone can imagine being locked for more than six months in a house. She eventually moved to a new house. Mehak realized something in the house is trying to drive her out.” To a question, in her personal life the actress said she is scared of many things, but doesn’t suffer from any phobia.
On replying how much she relate to Mahek, “I could not much relate to the character. I think that is the beauty of it. As an actor, you have to play characters which you couldn’t relate to it. Then you can challenge yourself more. It is basically a tricky question to answer as I haven’t gone through what Mehak feels but emotionally may be I am. If you empathize with the character you can relate to it.”
The film is directed by ‘Ragini MMS’ famed Pawan Kriplani. Produced by Eros International and Next Gen Films, “Phobia” is slated to be released on May 27.
Among her upcoming films, Radhika has completed shooting in Kabali, which will see her pairing opposite Rajinikanth.
“I had a great time shooting with Rajini sir. I think it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was very inspiring. He is such a wonderful man. There is no one like him,” said the 30-year old actress.
