Regional Films Do Play a Major Role in India: Imtiaz Ali

Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali who is well known for helming super-hit films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Rockstar’ among many others, was all present yesterday at the screening of Bengali film, ‘Teenkahon’.

The talented filmmaker, who is fond of Bengali films, happens to be all busy these days with promotions of ‘Teenakhon’.

The filmmaker yesterday during interaction with media was also asked about his view on regional films made these days, which like Bollywood films are very well accepted by the audience these days.

Imtiaz said, “Regional films do play an important role in every nation. Especially in our country, as we have numerous regional languages and cultures.”

“Regional films have been doing extremely well from very long time. I think no other regional language have ever received the amount of international recognition, the way Bengali films have received. But, no matter what, the truth is the importance of regional films are important and will remain so forever, and it is something which can never be ignored.” added the filmmaker.
