Rajkumar Hirani’ Sports drama ‘Saala Khadoos’ distinctly reminds Shahrukh Khan’s super hit movie ‘Chak De! India’ however actor R.Madhavan who will be seen portraying a role of ‘banished boxing coach’ says his film is different from Khan’s film.
“People often ask me what is different from “Chak De! India”. It needs to be understood that this film is about two persons from very different society and both are disliked by others because of their uncompromising attitude and straight forwardness. They met by destiny and how they reached to a point thorough a common passion that is boxing.” The actor expressed at an interview.
Madhavan who played a critically acclaimed role in the 2009 blockbuster by Rajkumar Hirani “3 Idiots”, has teamed up with the director producer for the second time in ‘Saala Khadoos’.
As Madhavan considers ‘Saala Khadoos’ as the most important film after “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein” which also marked debut of Dia Mirza, says the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ Actor, “Saala Khadoos is an important film in my career. Till now whatever work I have done all are related to soft typed, lover boy, decent kind of roles. I have never done rough role in Hindi film. I wanted a break to essay a strong character. After “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein” there were no such film came to my way.”
The film deals with the life of a ‘badass boxing coach’, Madhavan who tries and lives his dream of a ‘knockout’ through an ‘arrogant fisherwoman’ played by Ritika Singh. The bilingual sports drama film written and directed by Sudha Kongara and also features Mumtaz Sorcar, Nassar and Radha Ravi. The film is set to hit theatre 29 January.
