Gorgeous, naughty and seductress yet extremely talented Radhika Apte as Ahalya, opens the door to her home and to many untold promises for Inspector Indra Sen, a spell binding emotion and mystery caste its web around audience, yes, I am talking about filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s short film, an intriguing tale of love, deceit and mythology.
The story is loosely based on a short story in Ramayana-which had “Ahalya” being cursed by her husband Gautam for cheating on him with Lord Indra, who came to her in disguise. While the original story had Ahalya being cursed, Ghosh’s story takes a different take altogether.
Tight narration and no-holds-barred brilliant screen play leaves you gasping for air, which is already charged with “wanting”!
Radhika Apte exhibits impeccable Bengali transformation, a true seductress, while veteran Soumitra Chatterjee adapts to his affable yet mysterious character brilliantly.
Ghosh’s quirky and edgy thriller is hardly 14 minutes long, but the untold story leaves audience thinking about it for much longer.
