Vidya Balan’s “Tumhari Sulu” scores 7 IIFA nominations

The Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards nominations for 2018 were announced on tuesday and Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu scored nominations in 7 categories.

Both Vidya Balan and filmmaker Suresh Triveni have been nominated in the Best Actor (Female) and Best Direction categories respectively. “Tumhari Sulu” has also been nominated in the categories – Best Film, Best Story, Best Performance In A Supporting Role (both Male and Female) and Best Music Direction.

Newton landed the second highest number of nominations, the Best Film category in common with Tumhari Sulu. They will also be competing with movies like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Hindi Medium and Toilet – Ek Prem Katha.

In the Best Actor (male) category along with Rajkummar Rao, Irrfan Khan, who is currently under treatment in London, has also been nominated. Other contenders are Akshay Kumar for Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Ranbir Kapoor for Jagga Jasoos and Adil Hussain for Mukti Bhawan.

Late Sridevi scored a nomination in the Best Actor (Female) category for “MOM” which also won her the National Award which was received by her daughters Janhvi and Khushi and husband Boney Kapoor. Other contenders For IIFA best Actress include Alia Bhatt, Zaira Wasim, and Bhumi Pednekar.

The 19th edition of the IIFA Awards will be held in Bangkok’s Siam Niramit Theatre on June 22 and June 24. Global voting for the awards went live from Tuesday.
