John Abraham “Rocky Handsome” postponed till 2016

John Abraham’s upcoming solo action movie, which was slated for 2nd October release, is postponed till next year.

Gossip market was rife that Madras Cafe actor didn’t want to compete with action superstar Akshay Kumar’s “Singh is Bliing” which was released on the same date but there is something else brewing here!

John Abraham was paired opposite Shruti Haasan in latest Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back, and makers didn’t want to repeat the pairing so quickly on silver screen.

“The Shruti-John pair was one reason for the postponement. My film got delayed because I got busy with Drishyam,” says RH director Nishikant Kamat.

“Rocky Handsome” is an action-thriller film which is a loose adaptation of the 2010 Korean film The Man from Nowhere.

Hence, the action sequences in the movie which requires a lot of VFX.

“The film requires a whole lot of VFX. We can’t rush through that,” says Nishikant.

“Rocky Handsome” is now slated for next year release, 5th Feb 2016.

But director doesn’t deny the fact that “clashing” on box-office is bad for business.

“Besides another big film Singh Is Bliing was released on October 2. We want to avoid any clash. So far, our date (Feb 5) is ours only.  But you never know. Another film may decide to jump in to create an unnecessary clash.”

John is co-producing this film under his home banner John Abraham Entertainment with Sunir Khetrapal’s Azure Entertainment.

The film’s story revolves around a man who sets out to take vengeance against drug mafia after they take away an eight-year-old girl, with whom he shares a special bond.
